Ready or not, here it comes!

As my friend and fellow blogger told me, bikini season is kind of like "Hide-and-go-seek"--- ready or not, here it comes!

Let’s be honest. There is no way we will look like this girl by Memorial Day and I don’t know about you, but my make-up certainly doesn’t stay that pretty while working out. In any case, it is time (or maybe even overdue) to jump start our fit summer. Our first hurdle: Memorial Day. Time is short but rest assured all is not lost. I have complied a few tips to survive the first bikini holiday of the year.

T-Minus 5 days:

-Go to your swimsuit drawer and dig through your endless knot of swimsuit pieces. Pick the swimsuit you want to make your debut in this summer. Now hang your swimsuit somewhere you will see it every day until Memorial Day. This is just to help you keep your eye on the prize.

-Make time every day to do something active. There is something out there for everyone. You can go swimming, hiking, running, or even walking - anything to get your heart rate up and metabolism cooking.

-Whether it takes cleaning the dust off your at home workout video or going to the gym with your significant other for a little instruction, add some resistance training to your routine. Legs: 20 walking lunges, 20 squats, and 60 second wall sit. Arms: 20 push ups, 10 shoulder press, 10 bench dips (you can use a chair for this too). Core: 60 Plank, 25 in and outs, 25 wide leg sit ups, and 50 Mason twists. This is one set. Repeat two more times.

-Drink lots of water!

Memorial Day:

-Before you leave home to join your family and friends, take a look in the mirror and tell yourself you look great! Do not stress over the small things. Confidence is key!

-Have a healthy snack before you leave! This will help control your appetite when faced with unhealthy party food choices.

-Be active. Memorial Day is centered around plenty of outdoors activities, so join in with your friends and family.

These tips should help you sport your favorite bikini with confidence. Be realistic. You can’t fix one year worth of unhealthy choices in one week. But keep checking back for more detailed workout plans to have you ready for Fourth of July!
