Firmoo {Glasses Review}

Image
I've worn glasses since 4th grade, and I think they are totally a part of my persona! You know, leopards have spots, Jessica wears glasses... Firmoo emailed me in December and asked if I'd like to order a pair of glasses and review them. OF COURSE I WOULD!  They have so many cute frames to choose from which made it a challenge to pick one pair! I picked a pair of plastic and metal frames. I finally placed my order on January 6, and I received my glasses on January 23! I must admit that there are both pros and cons to this experience: A pro is that the glasses are super affordable! A con is that you can't try them on (obviously) until you get them. I have a pretty big noggin, which I didn't take into account. The frames I chose are a little snug, so I should probably swing by my eye doctor's office to have them fitted a bit more properly. Another pro is that I love the way they look on my face! They ship from China, so it could be a pain to return th

Movies to see {Volume 1}

Image
I love watching movies and going to the movies, so it's only natural for me to post my "I have to see that right when it comes out" list here! In middle and high schools, I went to the movies ALL THE TIME. Really even in to college and after graduation, too. You know, in all the years before I had my own bills? ;) Here are some films set to release between now and April that I just can't wait to feast my eyes on! Be sure to follow the links to IMDB to watch the previews. Black or White  (I just saw this preview as I was looking through the Coming Soon list. The cast looks perfect!) Cinderella   One of Disney's most beloved princesses is back - in live action! I'm super excited about this movie...as long as they haven't showed every.single.detail in the previews. Insurgent I read the books and LOVED. I saw Divergent. Several times. I'm super excited about this. Honestly, I don't really remember this part

Our family is growing...by four feet and a tail!

Image
Our dear friends the followell family just adopted a daughter (Eden) from India, so we adopted their dog, Shaw!  Jordan's excited. I'm a bundle of nerves. Shaw is just sniffing it out.  Welcome to the family, Shaw Followell Thornton.

You have to promise you won't fall in love with me.

Because as I started this post, that quote from A Walk to Remember popped into my mind immediately...so I had to use it as the title.  ;) You already know that I adore Alyssa Hertzig , so when I read her post , I knew I had to do one of my own.  (Mainly because it reminded me of a MySpace survey...and because I love getting to know people and answering questions. What? Don't even look surprised. This is not new information.) Background:  Alyssa read Hallie's post on Corals + Cognacs here which stems from the article Hallie read here about how to fall in love with anyone. Apparently, this can happen when you answer 36 questions . There are three sets of questions. Some get pretty intense/personal. Soooo, all of that 411 to say - bloggers are answering a number of their questions, and we're all in a web of information sharing and friendship building. Be warned, I'm a sucker for things like this. Given the choice of anyone in the world, whom would you want as a

You know when you get a clever idea, and you're so eager about it....and then 51 other people posted it before you? Just happened to me.  I posted a picture yesterday of my lipstick and my coffee. This morning, I was thinking about some of the hashtags I use on Instagram.  #tinybirdreads #tinybirdjams Then the lightbulb came on.   #tinybirdlipsandsips !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Imagine my excitement. So clever. So many possibilities. So I did what anyone with a brillabt hashtag idea would do. I searched #lipsandsips on Instagram....only to find 51 other posts. Hahahah. Whatever. The tinybird puts another spin on it.  Keep watching to see what I'm drinking and what lipcolor I'm rocking! What are some of your favorite hashtags? Let me know so I can check them out! {weekend recap}

Image
Hello bunnies! How was your weekend? Mine was full, but it was full of good and lovely things. Thankful! Saturday, we ate at Panda Express for the second time (so far) in 2015. Y'all, I've never been a super huge Chinese food fan, but their Orange Chicken is the bomb dot com. I won't even start harping on how perfectly crispy and delish the spring rolls are. Trust me.  I got to spend some quality time with Jess on Saturday. And, I finally got to have some time with Eden, the newest Followell. Hearts in my eyes, for sure. Glad Meg came home from her day out before I left, too.  Sunday afternoon, Jordan, Cat, and I went to see Selma. I can't accurately convey in words how much this movie means to my heart, y'all. Seriously. I had to ugly cry way into the credits. It's just so much more than a movie. There's still so much work to be done.  Then, Jordan and I got home to watch the Golden Globes, and *spoiler alert* Glory (the song from Selma) won best song. Tota

Confessional Friday {January 9}

TGIF, babes! So happy we're almost to the weekend. After 12 days off, working for five days in a row has been a change for sure!  :) I'm happy to be linking up with Leslie over at A Blonde Ambition today for one of my favorite link-ups, Confessional Friday. So, let's get started! 1.  I confess...that I'm already working on my post-Christmas, pre-birthday wishlist. (Y'all, I love STUFF. It's a real flaw.) So far on the list?  Starbucks Alice + Olivia Travel Mug (because I missed the first one they did AND happen to like this one better! As an avid planner and journal obsessed sister, I am suddenly struck with the desire to get my paws on this journal and a Filofax...mainly THIS one, that's not even for sale in America. #LeaveItToMe  2.  I confess...that these chilly temps the past few days have made dressing for work, well, interesting. To say the least. Hahaha. I have one pair of work pants that still button. One. So it's been dresses and

Currently {January} Link-Up!

Image
I love linking up with Jenna and Anne ! They do this super fun Currently link-up every month. (I've done it several times, here and there!) Plus, they email you the prompt ahead of time, so you can be thinking about what you're going to share! Way convenient.  Besides them making it so easy to participate, finding new blogs to follow and new blogger friends is an added bonus! What are you waiting for, friend? Link up with us! I'm planning...more blog posts! Also planning out my months, slowly, carefully, and with intention. It's SO easy to fill up every single day in the planner rather than saying "no, thanks!" or "I have to pass this time." We don't actually have to say yes to all the things. I'm also planning to attend the first ever Mississippi Women Bloggers meet up at the end of the month! Find out more here ! We would totally love to meet you! I'm hoping...to really listen to the Lord this year

2015 Goals: 15 for '15

Image
I started making a goal list to share because of all the amazing women in #fireworkpeople! Then, Jordan made a list of 15 goals for 2015. He inspired me to get my list up to 15, and I'm quite happy/challenged/excited by it! I wanted to share it here - both to spur you on and to keep myself accountable! What are your goals for the new year? Love, Jessica @jesstinybird
