Happy birthday to the Rock!

 Happy birthday, Rock.

I’ve had this on my “To Write” list for years. It’s always felt silly. (Pointless, if I’m being honest.) BUT I only get this one precious life, so why NOT write it? By some miracle, he might see it. He might not, but at least I won’t regret never having written it!

I love conversation starters or ice breakers or whatever you want to call them. I love knowing people and knowing their favorites. I have multiple lists in my phone of people I want to meet and questions I want to know the answer to.

One thing that is solidified for me is the Top Three people I’d want to meet and have dinner with. Dead or alive. Some of you would giggle. Some would scoff. Some don’t care and have already stopped reading.

The number one person on my list is Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

Why? Well, where do you want me to begin?

I’ve been a wrestling fan for nearly 27 years. I remember when he was Rocky Maivia. I remember when he joined the Nation of Domination. And then I remember when he became a star.

(One of my favorite memories of the Rock on tv was someone carrying his suitcase in the arena and asking for a tip. He gave him one, and it still makes me giggle! 🤣🫢)

Beyond wrestling, the Rock became a Hollywood star. (I realize you could just read his Wikipedia, but I feel like this is important to include!) I saw The Scorpion King twice in theaters because I was so proud.

Sure, he’s an athlete, actor, and very successful business man. His persona and charisma have always drawn me in, but in the past decade or so, it has been so much more than that. He’s a husband, and a dad, and a son. It’s really his heart that has impacted me the most. His mana, I suppose.

I love seeing all that he does on social media. All the differences he makes. All the ways he invests and shares his wealth with people around him. I realize you probably thought this would be more profound, but I just needed to say it.

Happy birthday, DJ. I hope we can share a meal one day, or at least meet on FaceTime. Thanks for who you are and all you do. Keep being yourself. Keep spreading the love and mana that you do. You have no idea how much it means to people - especially this girl in Mississippi.

Love always,
